Walter Fett is a Meteorologist. He started his work as a meteorologist at the Meteorological Observatory in Potsdam. He is a past Director and Professor at the Institute for Water, Soil and Air Hygiene (Institut für Wasser-, Boden- und Lufthygiene) at the Federal Health Office in Berlin. The predominant nature of his work has been in the area of statistics.

Fett has published a number of articles suggesting a connection between the moon and climate or weather on earth, particularly a connection between heavy precipitation and moon cycles.

Walter Fett helped establish the Technical Committee of Environmental Meteorology (FA UMET) of the German Meteorological Society in 1983, originally the working group AKUMET or Working Group for Meteorology and Environmental Protection. He is also a Honorary Member of the German Meteorological Society.
